Karala Barendregt from Sydney, Australia, comes from an arts background that includes visual and performances arts. She studied dance at Sydney Dance Development, was a player with drama companies and theatre groups and studied guitar and song writing with Don Hopkins, an award winning Australian blues artist. Since 2004 Karala has been part of the organisational team of the World Bodypainting Festival in Seeboden, Austria, along side Alex Barendregt who is the creator of the event. She is presenter of the onsite Festival TV, festival writer, part of the festival academy organisation and artist contact person. |

Karala also represents the World Bodypainting Association and spends much of her year doing voluntary work to support the association and its members. This includes artist relations, representation of the association at conventions and administration. In 1999 she first came into contact with the art of Bodypainting when working as production assistant on a documentary about the art form and developed a close working relationship with artists Sahra Bull and Darren Marshall from Sydney.
She is the author of the book 'Bringing Bodypainting to Life' released in 2008. Her main area of studies has been in visual arts focusing on art history and painting on canvas, an area she continues to explore today. |
