How did you discover the art of bodypainting?

The way I discovered the art of body painting was surprising also for me. Since I was a child I used to paint and I was always artistic. In carnival party's and when I was a dancer I painted my friends faces from the age of 11, but I never thought  about make up or to work as a bodypainter or make up artist . I was sure I would be a graphic designer or fashion designer but for sure an artistic job.
At 20 years old after 2 years of military service which is an obligation in Israel, I started to think about my future and what I would like to be.
One day I was walking in the main street in tel aviv and I saw a make up school. In the window were many beautiful body painting photos, it catch my eyes. I stood there for 20 minutes so exited. I went inside and I spoke with the sales person and I tolled her, I would like to be a make up artist and bodypainter , I just wanted  to pay and to start study immediately. That's how I found my passion to this world. I also tolled the girl one day I will be famous. She laughed but after 1 year I was already a master teacher in that school.

How do you use bodypainting in the fashion industry?

As a make up artist, I must do clean make up but also extreme.  It depends on what the client asks for. I use body painting in my technique, usually it's a small part of the face or body and not full. I keep the beauty of the model or I mix it with beauty make up. It can be bodypainting on the neck or on the shoulders or chest, sometimes only eyes but for sure mixed with the beauty. I love that mix, I like to show both ways of make up neither one of them is easy.

Have you seen a growth in the interest from fashion shows to use bodypainting?

Many artists think that a bodypainter can't be a good make up artist or the opposite. In my case I do and love both and I use body painting in my fashion shooting as well. In the last few years you can see the touch of bodypainting in many fashion shows like ghon galliano and manish orora. I think it's more powerful and strong. You need to do that in the right way, very clean sharp and with a lot of creativity. I think it's growing well and more and more artist use it which makes me happy.

You are launching a new product for bodypainting artists, what will be special about the product?

My new product “ED -bodypainting pro” by vimua.it  is special because the colours have very strong pigments and I have many colours, about 25. The colours attach very well to the skin and do not crack when you touch them after they dry. I have 3 lines. Regular colours, neon colours and metal colours in very high quality .

You also teach make up and bodypainting, what is the most important message you try to give to students?

I have taught make up for many years. I'm travelling a lot all over the globe with my workshops so I meet so many levels of make up artists with different mentalities and different techniques. I'm teaching all of them that everything is possible, and if you want to succeed you must have the passion for this job with all your heart. Never give up even if it's hard, go with your heart and don't be afraid to use the colours. When they tell me that they can't create the lines the way I do them, I just say that they must remember that we control the brushes and the colours and not the opposite. Every thing is possible, if you practise a lot and you have the passion you will get there!

How would you like to see bodypainting develop in the future?

I would like to see body painting develop and grow more and more, in commercials, movies, beauty and then people will understand that this is an art and totally art and not provocative or only nude, and most of all this is a magic world.
