The World Body Painting Association, ASIA

Review  World Body Painting Association ASIA, Opening May 1st, 2010

by Alex Barendregt:

The World Body Painting Association “WBPA”  is a network of bodypainting artists around the world. This community created by the world's best artists has only one goal - to promote and to develop  the art of bodypainting in highest standards.

Therefore, the WBPA creates events, organizes workshops and seminars around the world,  and enforces the communication and collaboration between bodypainting artists. The flagship of the promotion of this artform is the World Bodypainting Festival, that is organized since 1998 in Austria.

The interest of Korean makeup artists for bodypainting started to grow after the first World Bodypainting Festival Asia organized by the WBPA in 2008. The basis for this collaboration was founded during our special training courses for groups from Korea taking place in Austria.

The WBPA has schools and partners in many Asian countries, but Korea has a special relation to the WBPA. Therefore, the WBPA chose this beautiful country to establish the headquarter for the Asian branch.

The airbrush artist Ernst Wieser from the Austrian Airbrush Academy joined the trip and we visited various universities, colleges and schools to give demonstrations and to organize workshops in airbrush bodypainting.

The following institutions have been visited:

- Taekyeung University / Daegu
- Korean Broadcasting Art College / Seoul
- Seoul life science high school / Seoul
- Jeong Arm Beauty high school / Seoul
- SU 203 College / Daegu

It is highly significant for institutions all around the world to collaborate well as this exchange of support and knowledge encourages growth for every individual as well as for the industry as a whole.

The WBPA signed already some cooperation agreements with the following partners:

- Korean Pro Make up Job Interchange Association
- Seoul Hyundai Technical College
- Taekyeung Seoul
- Korean Broadcasting Art College Seoul

As the chairman of the World Body Painting Association I can now announce the next big step for the bodypainting industry and all our members.

Again, the Korean hospitality and food made us feel very welcome during our stay. Professor Park from the Daegu Health College spent the last day with our group.

Our long time partner and friend Park Chan Hee, the organizer of the WBPA Asia and all the promotion tours, did a fantastic job. We are very thankful for his support.

In addition to the important information available on the main website of the WBPA, the WBPA Asia will have its own website for communication of news and activities.
