W.B.P.A. Academy: Education Group Jan. 2009

Over the passed three weeks in January 2009 the World Body Painting Association held the first extended learning course in Bodypainting. With ten students from South Korea and China staying in Spittal and learning in the beautiful level two room at the glasshouse it was a successful begin to what we would like to run annually here in Austria.

Bella Volen from Bulgaria was the first teacher in the course with three days focussing on colour theory and composition plus the history of body art.

The second teacher in the course was Jinny from Canada. She taught the students more practical applications and techniques as well as how to create beautiful animals on the body.

Wolf Reicherter then taught two days of UV effects under black light which resulted in some amazing new artworks from the students.

For the airbrush section of the course Austrian Ernst Wieser, head of the jury at the world bodypainting festival, travelled over and shared some of his knowledge for practical and artistic results when working with the technique.

The final teacher for the three week course was Mike Shane from Luxembourg who focussed on logo painting and working as a professional artist.

The whole experience was very positive for teachers and students so we will be happy to organise the course again in the future. Here are some photos from the workshops with artworks created by the teachers and students.
