Announcing a New Bodypainting Competition in the USA

Now in it's fourth year, Living Art America / "Bodies as a Work of Art" has been newly expanded and will take place in Atlanta, Georgia on one night only— September 28, 2013. The organizers are interested in creating a first-class experience for artists and audience alike and promoting the concept of bodypainting as a fine art. Top cash prizes are being offered, worthy of drawing top talent to compete. An "audience prize" will be awarded by guests in attendance using their smart phones to vote in real time at the event.

In an additional effort to accommodate overseas competitors, a "HomeStay" program will pair international artists with host families who can aid in transportation, logistics and offer a sample of the "southern hospitality" the city of Atlanta is famous for. All artists who are applying to compete are encouraged to do so early, as spaces are very limited.

The jury includes judges of past or present World Championship ranking and will be headed up by Craig Tracy, and also include Alex Berendregt. There is no cost to apply. Accepted artists will pay a $50 entry fee. The theme for 2013 is "Empowerment" and a combination of Brush/Sponge, Airbrush and Special Effects may be used. This event is sponsored by The Chelko Foundation, an Atlanta-based charitable organization, which seeks empower women and girls through art, education and partnership.

The World Bodypainting Association visited also this year the wonderful "Beauty Forum" exhibition in Leipzig, Germany.
On a 3rd issue,  bodypainting artists from Germany, Italy, Austria, Bulgaria and Portugal showed their vision with in Brush/Sponge on the theme: "The Oriental, between tradition and modern times". The jury with Einat Dan, Filippo Ioco and Peter Richter did very hard to place the amazing first three.

3 place: Johannes Stoetter (Italy)

A wonderful and very exciting weekend on the Beauty Forum Swiss lays behind us. The third Bodypainting Face Effects Award took place and thousands of visitors squalled the trade show and for sure our Award with the fantastic stage presentations was an absolute highlight.

For the judges Birgit Mörtl (Austria), Marcel Krauer und Fredi Schmidt (Switzerland) it was a difficult thing to evaluate all the high level artworks. Als all participants recognised, that it was an absolute difficult decision.

In the end the following winner were announced by the WBA:

Solaris – Life and the sun!

A special body art and dance show connected to the life, the nature and the elements takes place from the 3rd to the 26th of May during the cosmetic and Beauty Expo in Osong, Korea. The sun breathes life into all creatures and without life no beauty can exist. Modern dancers create a story around, the four different elements – Wind, Fire, Water and Earth. It is a Korean aim that all the elements have to work together in harmony and people have to look after themselves and others, to live a life full of Beauty.
No effort was spared during the preparation time to make this show to something really special. The producer and director Alex Barendregt (Austria) from the World Bodypainting Association (WBA) and art director, Agnieszka Glińska (Poland) created the storyboard in cooperation with the Osong Expo Organizing Committee in many hours work with love and passion to detail to be able to seduce the visitors once a day into another magic world.
Handmade costumes, wonderful bodypainting arts and dancers as well as the connection of European artists and Korean beauty make our daily show to one of the main attractions of this huge Expo, with more than 1,000,000 visitors.

The Beauty Forum Swiss is still in our minds and we are all still excited of all the wonderful works and the special atmosphere there, although we are already on the starting blocks for the 6th Beauty Forum Leipzig, that takes place on the upcoming weekend from the 13th to the 14th of April in the trade show area Leipzig.

In addition to the make-up, nail art and nail design championships, the 3rd Beauty Forum Bodypainting Trophy will be organized in cooperation with the World Bodypainting Association (WBA). The topic "The Orient - in between of tradition and modern" is an artictic challenge and leads to a huge amount of creativity and we can look forward to excellent artworks.

We would be glad to see many of you at the trade show in hall 2 to create again an unique and special competition for all of us.

On the 23rd and the 24th of November 2013 Lugano (Switzerland) gets painted!

Fantasy creatures, colourful bodies and spectacular stage performances should bring the visitors on a journey into another world.
